The Shadow Cows

CONTENT WARNING

Beyond the objective context of lore discoveries, content on this page is largely speculative and may not represent fact. The information found on this page is thought up by the fans of JCR based on what little is known of Josh and what clues he hides online, and is thus subject to change upon new lore surfacing.

The Shadow Cows can be identified by their dim silhouette and glowing pale blue eyes. It’s very uncommon to see them outside of large groups. Almost nothing is known about them or their intentions.

Appearances

In SncksnlcnSNcnjnlNKLCNSKlcnKLKncksnclkas

20 seconds into the 34 second runtime of season 1 episode 10 of Cow Review, a URL is flashed on screen extremely briefly, leading to a video titled SncksnlcnSNcnjnlNKLCNSKlcnKLKncksnclkas. No meaning has been discerned from the title, it is currently believed to be gibberish. The video content is a static image of the Shadow Cows staring at you, set to a droning hum, with the declaration that “WE ARE COMING” displayed in white text at the bottom of the screen. The message is written in morse code.

Fan interpretation

Mikey's interpretation

Unlike Josh’s previous communication, which is intended as a message to his “homeland”, this feels directed towards us. Remember that the other transmission was very easy to decipher, so why are there extra layers of secrecy applied to this one? It’s harder to find, it’s written in code, but his homeland are only expecting messages spoken plainly. Does he not want them to notice this one? But if such a sentiment is only intended for us, why? Is it a warning?

With no other candidates available, I’m thinking that the Shadow Cows could be the cows “sent down” to Earth, as mentioned previously. If true, that means that whatever they’re here to do is going well.
