Apology Cow

Apology Cow is a sorry looking calf standing above a written plea for forgiveness, often printed onto round white stickers.

Origin

Apology Cow was created by a clipart artist as a gift for his wife after she found out that the iconic clip art character which made him his fortune, who he promised his wife was based on her likeness, was actually modelled after his childhood crush. The character in question is a caucasian woman with short brown hair who was often depicted as a bride, and notably always wearing a white flower earring with 5 long round petals. The artist’s wife, who believed the character was a drawing of her, was incredibly proud to be the inspiration for her husband's most popular work. She had always wondered why her supposed avatar was always seen wearing white flower earrings, an article of clothing she had never owned, but simply assumed it was an artistic choice and couldn’t argue with the success of the design. She only realised the truth when browsing Facebook, where she discovered pictures of her husband’s childhood crush who resembled her significantly, outside of the striking difference that she was always pictured wearing the iconic white flower earrings of her clipart counterpart. Angered at the realisation that her husband had essentially been publicly drawing wish-fulfilment fanart of himself marrying another woman, she banished him from the household.

Having been kicked out of their house, the clipartist sat in his car with his laptop and began to draw an apology to offer his wife. He settled on a cow, his wife’s favourite animal, and decided to make it young to infuse extra vulnerability. Unbeknownst to him, two shooting stars collided in the night sky above his car, shooting particles of stardust towards the surface of the Earth. A stray cloud of stardust drifted through his barely open car windows, getting into his eyes and making him cry. The stardust fulfilled his desire for forgiveness as the teardrops dribbled down onto the screen of his laptop, infusing the drawing with the supernatural ability to make anyone it was presented to feel forgiveness towards the bearer, creating Apology Cow as we know him today.
